Japan, World Food Program Join Efforts to Assist Tajiks

DUSHANBE -- The UN's World Food Program (WFP) and the Japanese Embassy in Tajikistan have signed an agreement on food distribution in the Central Asian country, RFE/RL Tajik service reports.

Embassy representative Malohat Shabanova said that Tokyo would allocate $4.7 million for the WFP's project in Tajikistan.

According to her, the project will help the WFP office in Dushanbe distribute 1,200 tons of food among 1.2 million Tajik citizens.
