Kyrgyz President Reshuffles Government, Staff

Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiev is looking for new ministers and staff members.

BISHKEK -- Several top officials in the Kyrgyz presidential administration -- as well as the science, education, agriculture, and water resources ministers -- have been sacked.

Zainidin Kurmanov, a parliament member from the pro-presidential Ak-Zhol (Bright Path) party, told RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service that President Kurmanbek Bakiev intends to bring fresh forces into his political circle.

The coordinator of the For Justice movement, Alikbek Jekshenkulov, told RFE/RL that the reshuffle will not solve the current economic and political problems in Kyrgyzstan.

Opposition Ak-Shumkar (White Falcon) party leader Temir Sariev said that instead of changing his surroundings, the president should change his viewpoints and system of governing.
