Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri has urged Iraqi politicians to resolve the political stalemate that has left the Middle Eastern country without a working government for months.
On October 31, Hariri said Lebanon was "pleased" by the intiative of Saudi King Abdullah, who earlier this week invited Iraqi leaders to meet in Riyadh after Eid and the hajj pilgrimage to Mecca ends November 18.
A spokeswoman, Maysoon al-Damluji, for the Iraqiya list, led by Allawi, welcomed the Saudi initiative, saying it could help prevent Iraq's security situation from deteriorating.
The Lebanese Prime Minister also encouraged Iraqi politicians to resolve their disputes "under the umbrella of the Arab League."
Iraq's parliamentary election in March failed to produce a clear winner, with former Prime Minister Ayad Allawi's Sunni-backed coalition narrowly defeating Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's Shi'ite-dominated bloc.
