Officials: Suicide Bomb Group Captured In Kabul

Officials say that Afghan security forces have arrested nine members of an alleged terrorist cell.

Intelligence service spokesman Saeed Ansari said today that four of the suspects were arrested while traveling in a vehicle in Kabul's eastern district, while five others were picked up at an Islamic school in the city.

He said security forces also seized weapons, suicide bomb vests, 200 kilograms of explosives, and a vehicle. The dates of the arrests were not disclosed.

Also today, Afghanistan's Defense Ministry said an explosion, possibly involving land mines or mortars, killed one Afghan soldier and wounded three during a military training exercise in Kabul.

In another development, local officials said that explosives being carried by a donkey blew up in the troubled southern Afghan city of Kandahar, injuring at least two people.
