Russian Officials Seize Silk Impregnated With Heroin

NAKHODKA, Russia -- A large shipment of silk found to be impregnated with heroin has been impounded in Russia's Far East port of Nakhodka, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.

A specially trained dog helped to locate the illegal drugs today in two transport containers filled with silk.

The load arrived in Nakhodka from Uzbekistan and was due to be sent to Shanghai.

It is not yet known how much heroin was contained in the silk.

An investigation is being conducted.
