Russian Tax Police Jailed For Taking Bribes

CHITA, Russia -- Two tax-police officers in Russia's eastern Baikal region have been jailed for accepting bribes, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.

The regional prosecutor's office said Vladimir Rozental and Roman Yadrishchensky were each sentenced to 5 1/2 years in jail for accepting 90,000 rubles (about $3,000) from a local company in a tax-evasion case.

The two men have also been stripped of their police ranks.
