Suspected Taliban Commander Detained In Afghanistan

NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) says its troops and Afghan forces captured a suspected high-ranking Taliban commander in northern Afghanistan.

ISAF said in a statement that Maulawi Roshan was thought to be a senior member of the Taliban in Kunduz Province, and a deputy to the Taliban's shadow governor of the province.

ISAF said he was captured on September 21 and taken for questioning by Afghan authorities.

ISAF also said 16 suspected insurgents were killed on September 21 in separate incidents in Khost and Helmand provinces.

One Danish soldier with ISAF was also killed in a clash in Helmand today.
