UN Millennium Summit Wraps Up

Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad speaks at the Millennium Development Goals summit at UN headquarters in New York.

A UN summit on poverty wraps up today. The three-day meeting in New York has brought together 140 leaders from rich and poor nations to review progress toward achieving the UN Millennium Development Goals agreed 10 years ago to cut poverty.

Among today's speakers are U.S. President Barack Obama and Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao.

On September 21, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said countries need to take charge of their own development and stop relying on handouts.

Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad said capitalism was on the verge of collapse and it was time to create a new economic system.
