U.S. Missile Strikes Kill Seven In Pakistan

Officials in Pakistan say two missile strikes today by suspected pilotless U.S. drone aircraft have killed at least seven suspected militants in Pakistan's North Waziristan, a region near Afghanistan considered a sanctuary for Taliban and Al-Qaeda-linked militants.

Reports say one strike targeted militants not far from Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan, while the second strike targeted militants in another town in the same area.

In another development, five members of the Pakistani security forces have been reported killed in a suspected attack by militants on the outskirts of Peshawar, capital of Pakistan's North West Frontier Province.

The attackers are reported to have used rockets, petrol bombs, and automatic weapons to attack a security checkpoint at Speen Qabar.
