Ukraine Court Rules Against Presidential Poll Date

President Viktor Yushchenko's popularity has been in single digits for months.

KYIV (Reuters) -- A top Ukrainian court has ruled as unconstitutional the October 25 date set by parliament for the next presidential election in the former Soviet republic, a Reuters witness said.

President Viktor Yushchenko, swept to power by mass Orange Revolution rallies but now highly unpopular, had challenged the October date in the Constitutional Court, saying the election should not take place until early next year.
