A British marine convicted of murdering a wounded Taliban militant has been jailed for life with a minimum 10 years behind bars.
The sentence against Sergeant Alexander Blackman was handed down on December 6 by a military court in Bulford, southwest England.
Last month, Blackman was found guilty of murdering the man while deployed in the southern Afghan province of Helmand in September 2011.
Two other marines were acquitted of the killing. The three were charged after military authorities found footage of the incident on a helmet camera.
Blackman, 39, was recorded shooting the severely injured Afghan in the chest at close range while quoting Shakespeare.
His name was disclosed on December 5 following a court ruling that lifted an anonymity order preventing him from being identified.
