The Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers have met for internationally mediated talks aimed at settling the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, the ethnic Armenian-controlled territory inside Azerbaijan.
No breakthrough was reported after the meeting on January 28 in the French capital Paris between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian.
A statement from Russia, France, and the United States -- the three powers in the OSCE Minsk Group seeking to mediate a resolution to the conflict -- said the two sides “reiterated their support for a peaceful settlement and their determination to continue negotiations.”
It was the first Armenia-Azerbaijani meeting on Karabakh since October.
Armenia and Azerbaijan have been in conflict for more than two decades over Nagorno-Karabakh, with a fragile cease-fire holding since 1994.
