Police in Bangladesh say at least one person was killed and 80 injured in bomb attacks on a gathering of minority Shi'ite Muslims in the capital, Dhaka, in the early morning of October 24.
The incident took place at Huseni Dalan, a key Shi'ite community site, where more than 20,000 people had gathered for a religious procession.
Television showed live footage of the chaos in the aftermath of the blasts with people, many holding flags, fleeing and ambulances taking the injured to hospital.
Nobody claimed the responsibility for the attacks. Police arrested two suspects from the scene.
Police said at least five bombs were thrown. Three exploded and two were recovered.
The attack came as minority Shi'ite Muslims marked Ashura, a 10-day ritual in which they commemorate the death of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad.
At least 18 people were killed and dozens injured in a similar attack at a Shi'ite procession in Pakistan on October 23.
On October 24, Shi'ite community leader Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi demanded protection and asked the Pakistani government to take action against those who orchestrated the bombing.
