Belarusian Youth Activists Detained For Egging Lenin

Police arrest a youth activist after he and two others pelted a Lenin statue with eggs in Minsk.

MINSK -- Three Belarusian opposition youth activists have been detained after throwing eggs at a monument to Vladimir Lenin in Minsk, RFE/RL's Belarus Service reports.

The three shouted "Communism Must Face Trial!" and pelted the monument with eggs as several dozen communists laid flowers to mark the 94th anniversary of the October Revolution, which brought Lenin's Bolsheviks to power.

The three -- Raman Vasilyeu, Mikhail Muski, and Paval Syarhey -- are all members of Belarus's opposition Young Front movement.
