An Indian official says 103 bodies have been recovered from a river in remote northeastern India after a ferry boat carrying some 350 passengers capsized late on April 30.
Pritam Saikia said May 1 that at least 100 people are still missing and that deep sea divers and disaster rescue soldiers were helping pull bodies from the Brahmaputra River.
The accident occurred near Fakiragram in Assam state. Assam state police chief J.N. Choudhury said earlier that 100 people had been rescued. He blamed high winds and rain for the accident.
