A Bolshoi ballet dancer accused of ordering an acid attack on the troupe's artistic director has pleaded not guilty at a trial in Moscow.
Dancer Pavel Dmitrichenko is suspected of arranging the January 17 acid attack on ballet artistic director Sergei Filin that left Filin with severe burns to his face and eyes and impaired his vision.
Dmitrichenko has admitted to ordering the attack but says he only wanted Filin beat up, not disfigured.
The man whom Dmitrichenko allegedly hired to carry out the attack -- Yuri Zarutsky -- and the driver who allegedly took Zarutsky to the scene of the attack -- Andrei Lipatov -- are also on trial. The three face up to 12 years in prison if convicted of charges of causing bodily harm.
