Bomb Destroys Military Administration Building In Damascus

Activists say that a bomb blast has destroyed a military administration building in Damascus, causing an as yet unknown number of casualties.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reports that the building, at the start of the Damascus airport road, was the headquarters of the administration that manages schools for the children of killed soldiers.

The blast comes a day after the UN-Arab League envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, told the UN Security Council that the situation in Syria, where rebels have been fighting for months against President Bashar al-Assad's regime, is growing worse.

He was speaking following his visit to Damascus last week.
