Bosnia Finally Has New Prime Minister

New Bosnian Prime Minister Vjekoslav Bevanda

Bosnia's parliament has voted in economist Vjekoslav Bevanda as prime minister, 15 months after general elections.

On January 12, the country's parliament voted 36-2, with 3 abstentions, to approve Bevanda, a member of the main Croat HDZ party.

Ahead of the vote, Bevanda said his priorities will be Bosnia's financial stability and winning EU membership for the Balkan state.

Since the end of the 1992-1995 war, Bosnia has been divided into two semi-autonomous entities -- the Muslim-Croat Federation and the Serbs' Republika Srpska.

The two entities are linked by a weak central government which will be led by Bevanda.
