Cain Drops Out Of Republican Race For U.S. Presidency

Herman Cain speaks to delegates during the Florida Republican Party Convention in Orlando, Florida in September.

Former pizza house entrepreneur Herman Cain has announced he is dropping out of the race to represent the Republican Party in next year's U.S. presidential election.

Cain has been hounded by accusations of sexual misconduct, including workplace sexual harassment and the latest scandal when a woman emerged claiming Cain had carried on an extramarital affair with her over a span of 13 years.

Cain won attention for his "9-9-9" plan to reduce the U.S. tax code to 9 percent on income, sales, and corporate taxes.

After jumping into the front-runner position two months ago, Cain had been in a free fall in the past month.
