At least 59 people have been injured in fresh clashes between protesters and security forces near Egypt's Defense Ministry.
Thousands of protesters, who threw rocks and yelled insults at Egyptian troops, marched in Cairo to denounce violence against demonstrators and the exclusion of candidates from the upcoming presidential election.
Security forces used water cannons and tear gas to drive back demonstrators and have now imposed a curfew in the area.
The demonstration comes after at least 11 people were killed on May 3 after unidentified assailants attacked people protesting outside the ministry.
The protesters, who were demonstrating against the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, accused the government of orchestrating the attack.
The unrest comes just three weeks before presidential elections are due to be held -- the first since Hosni Mubarak was forced to step down.
