Former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney

Former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney has undergone a heart transplant and is recovering in a Virginia hospital.

The 71-year-old Cheney has had a history of heart trouble, including five heart attacks.

Cheney served as vice president in the George W. Bush administration.

He pushed a "go it alone" world view that enraged his critics and dogged him long after he left public life.
