"The New York Times" says it has been targeted by Chinese hackers ever since it published a story critical of Prime Minister Wen Jiabao.
The U.S. daily said the attacks coincided with its report in October 2012 that Wen's family had accumulated at least $2.7 billion in "hidden riches."
At the time, China said the report was an attempt to smear its name.
The "Times" said security experts hired by the paper found the e-mail accounts of the story's reporter and a former bureau chief in Beijing had been breached.
However, the "Times" said no sensitive material related to the report had been accessed.
The Chinese government has repeatedly said it opposes hacking and that China too suffers frequently from these kinds of attacks.
