U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has implored black leaders to help protect the legacy of President Barack Obama, warning of a "dangerous and divisive vision" that could come if her Republican rival, Donald Trump, is elected.
Clinton was speaking on September 17 before Obama delivered his final keynote address to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.
Meanwhile, former U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates -- a Republican who was the Pentagon chief during the presidencies of Republican George W. Bush and Democrat Barack Obama, criticized Trump on September as being "unqualified and unfit to be commander-in-chief."
Gates made the remarks in an opinion column for The Wall Street Journal that was posted on the newspaper's website late on September 16.
Gates said Trump was "willfully ignorant" about the world, the U.S. military, and "about government itself."
