U.S. Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton sharply criticized her opponent Donald Trump in an August 25 campaign speech, accusing him of racism and embracing fringe right-wing ideologies. She criticized Trump for appearing at a campaign event with British right-wing politician Nigel Farage, saying Farage had stoked anti-immigrant sentiment to win a referendum on leaving the European Union. Speaking in Reno, Nevada, Clinton said both Trump and Farage are part of a rising tide of extreme nationalism -- and that "the godfather" of that global trend is Russian President Vladimir Putin.
