A car bomb has killed at least 11 people and wounded some 20 others in a predominantly Shi'ite neighborhood of eastern Baghdad.
Police said the car bomb was detonated at a busy intersection in the Jadidah, or New Baghdad, area early on August 26.
The explosives-laden car went off during the morning rush hour in the main commercial area of the district. It was parked close to outdoor pet and vegetable markets and a traffic police office.
A wave of bombings on August 25 killed at least 54 people in Baghdad and southern cities of Karbala and Hillah.

The violence comes after political parties nominated Prime Minister-designate Haidar al-Abadi in a bid to form a new government that reduces sectarian tensions.
