A Danish court has sentenced a Somali man to nine years in prison over an attack on a Danish cartoonist who caricatured the Prophet Muhammad.
The court in the town of Aarhus on February 3 found 29-year-old Mohamed Geele guilty of attempted murder and attempted terrorism for breaking into the home of cartoonist Kurt Westergaard on New Year's day last year and attacking him with an ax.
Westergaard's caricature of the Prophet Muhammad was one of 12 cartoons whose publication in 2005 in a Danish newspaper led to violent protests in several Muslim countries.
