Ukrainian Frontline Medics Save Lives Near Bakhmut

Russian forces have been relentlessly attacking the city since last summer. Moscow redoubled its efforts to take the city at the start of this year, launching a fresh offensive.

Analysts say that capturing Bakhmut, which has been almost completely destroyed by fighting, would have little strategic significance for Russia, but that Moscow would seek to attach symbolic significance to it in an effort to boost soldiers' morale.

According to the Ukrainian authorities, Russian troops conducted 81 offensive operations against Ukraine over the 24 hours leading up to February 27. They say Russian forces targeted Bakhmut, Avdiyivka, and Shaktarsk in the Donetsk region and Kupyansk in Ukraine's Kharkhiv region.
