Hollywood's Daryl Hannah Has Pussy Riot Up Her Sleeve

Daryl Hannah shows a slogan on her forearm in support of the two jailed members of Pussy Riot.

American actress Daryl Hannah added herself to the list of foreign cultural luminaries to have used appearances in Russia to call for the release of two jailed punk performance artists from Pussy Riot.

The star of major hits like "Splash," "Blade Runner," and "Kill Bill," Hannah was addressing reporters at a press conference in St. Petersburg on November 12 when she pulled up her sleeve to show a peace symbol and the words "Free Pussy Riot" on her forearm as she flashed a victory sign.

Other Western stars who've echoed Russian calls for the release of Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina -- both of whom are serving two-year sentences in remote penal colonies -- during appearances in Russia include Madonna, Faith No More, and Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chili Peppers.
