Iran Bank Appeals To British Court Over Ban

A private Iranian bank has turned to Britain's Supreme Court to overturn a ban on it operating in the country.

In 2009, the British Treasury penalized Bank Mellat over its alleged links to Iran's nuclear weapons program.

The bank argues that the Treasury order was unlawful and that Mellat should have a chance to read the judgment.

The case was brought on March 19 in front of nine judges sitting at the Supreme Court.

The hearings are expected to last three days.
