Iran has denied any links to two detained Kenyan nationals who were allegedly planning to stage a terrorist attack against western targets in Nairobi.
The Iranian embassy in Nairobi said in a November 30 statement that the two Kenyans had no links with Iran's intelligence or security apparatus.
Kenyan police said on November 28 that the two suspects had confessed to spying for the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps' elite Quds unit.
Police chief Joseph Boinett said the two had made several trips to Iran and were given money by their handlers and instructed to recruit others.
The Iranian embassy dismissed the claims as "hasty and unconstructive," adding that Iran values ties with Kenya.
"The embassy is ready to cooperate with relevant Kenyan authorities to clarify the issue," the statement carried by Iranian news agencies said.
