A judge in southern Iran has reportedly ordered Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg to appear in court.
The official ISNA news agency said Zuckerberg was wanted to answer complaints by individuals who say the Facebook-owned applications Instagram and Whatsapp violate their privacy.
It is highly unlikely that Zuckerberg will appear.
The report quoted Ruhollah Momen Nasab, an official with the paramilitary Basij force, as saying the judge also ordered the two apps blocked.
However, AP says users in Tehran could still access both applications around noon on May 27.
Facebook is already banned in Iran, along with other social websites like Twitter and YouTube.
However, some senior Iranian officials like Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif are active on Twitter.
Iran's youth and other technological-savvy citizens use proxy servers and other means to bypass the controls.
