Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman, the top negotiator for the United States in the P5+1 talks with Iran over its nuclear program, declined to give a hard date for when negotiations would end.
Speaking in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on July 29, Sherman said that it was the U.S.' "intent" to end negotiations on November 24.
Sherman added, "I have learned that in negotiations it is very difficult to say what will happen at the end of any given period of time."
She pledged to consult with the U.S. Congress on whatever decision was made.
Western countries and Iran agreed to a four-month extension on talks for a long-term deal on July 18.
