Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has reportedly suggested that the next round of international talks over Iran's nuclear program should take place in Cairo.
Iran's official IRNA news agency quoted Salehi on January 23 as saying that Egypt had welcomed the request and was now consulting with the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France, and Germany for hosting the meeting.
The last round of talks between Iran and those six countries over Tehran's nuclear program was held in June in Moscow.
Those negotiations fell apart but the two sides have been in discussions to resume negotiations.
The West fears that Iran seeks to develop a nuclear weapon, but Tehran insists its program is a purely peaceful effort to produce nuclear energy.
