Iranian President Hassan Rohani says Tehran and six world powers are "very likely" to reach a final deal over the Islamic republic’s nuclear program by a July 20 deadline.
"We can achieve this," Rohani told reporters on May 22 in Shanghai, where he attended a regional security forum.
The comments come after Iran and Britain, China, France, Russia, the United States, and Germany ended a fourth round of nuclear talks in Vienna on May 16 with no reported progress.
But the International Atomic Energy Agency said on May 21 that Iran had agreed to answer by August 25 long-ignored queries about its nuclear program.
The six powers want Iran to limit nuclear work in exchange for lifting economic sanctions.
Tehran has frozen some nuclear activities for six months in return for minor sanctions relief under a temporary deal that expires July 20.
