U.S.-Led Air Strikes Hit Islamic State In Iraq, Syria

The U.S.-led coalition has carried out 17 air strikes on Islamic State (IS) targets in Iraq and Syria in a 24-hour period ending on May 31.

A statement from the coalition said in a statement that 13 of the strikes were near the Iraqi cities of Ramadi, Baghdadi, Bayji, Fallujah, Makhmur, Mosul, Sinjar, and Tal Afar.

In Syria, the targets were close to Kobani and Al-Hasakah.

The coalition air strikes targeted IS units, military vehicles, mortars, fighter positions, and buildings held by the militants.

The multinational coalition began targeting the IS group in September 2014 and has reportedly caused thousands of casualties and destroyed hundreds of vehicles and other military assets.
