Wave Of Iraqi Bombings Kills At Least 35

Authorities in Iraq say a wave of militant attacks -- most of them car bombs targeting Shi’ite-dominated areas of central and southern Iraq -- have killed at least 35 people.

The deadliest of the September 15 attacks was in the city of Hillah, where a double car bombing killed at least 15 people.

Riyadh al-Adhadh, head of Baghdad’s provincial council, escaped without injury from an apparent assassination attempt. But the car bomb that hit his convoy killed three people and wounded four others.

Explosives in a parked car in Karbala killed four and injured 25.

In Kut, a car bomb exploded near a group of food stalls where construction workers were gathered, killing two and wounding 14.

A total of 11 people also were killed by bombings on September 15 in western Baghdad, Iskandariyah, Basra, and Nasiriyah.
