Car Bombs In Kirkuk Kill 7

Firefighters battle a blaze after a bomb attack in Kirkuk.

Police said car bombs killed at least 7 and wounded up to 80 in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk today.

One of the bombs exploded near the hearquarters of a Kurdish security force, the other two appeared to target police patrols.

Kirkuk is the epicenter of ethnic tensions among Arabs, Kurds, and Turkomen.

The city also sits on top of one-third of Iraq's estimated $11 trillion in oil reserves, and Arabs fear the Kurds want to annex Kirkuk to their northern autonomous region.
