Pakistani Journalist Shot Dead In SW Pakistan

QUETTA, Pakistan -- Police in Pakistan’s southwest Balochistan Province say attackers on a motorcycle have shot dead local journalist Mahmud Afridi.

Senior police officer Ahmed Shah Lango said Afridi was killed on March 1 as he walked to a press club in the town of Kalat, some 150 kilometers south of the provincial capital, Quetta.

Lango said Afridi worked for the local "Intikhab" newspaper and was president of the Kalat press club.

Afridi is the second journalist killed in Pakistan this week, after Malak Mumtaz of the private Geo TV channel was shot dead in front of a local press club in North Waziristan on February 27.
