Earthquake Rocks Northern Kyrgyzstan

An earthquake hit northern Kyrgyzstan today, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reports.

No casualties were reported.

Zinura Sharshenbaeva of the Kyrgyz Seismology Institute told RFE/RL that the magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck along the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border, not far from the town of Kant.

The earthquake was felt in Bishkek, where it reached magnitude 4.5.
