Sportsmen took part in an archery competition on skis in the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek, on January 19. Organizers said the event celebrated the traditions of ancient Kyrgyz nomads, who are thought to have hunted on skis as well as on horseback. (RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service)
