CHISINAU -- Moldova's Constitutional Court has suspended the government's decision to grant responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Chisinau International Airport to a Russian company.
The court's decision on September 10 was made less than a week after Moldova's Economy Minister Valeriu Lazar announced that the tender's winner, Russia's Komaks Company, will invest up to 244 million euros in the airport's infrastructure over 49 years.
A group of lawmakers requested the revision of the tender's results, saying it had been held in violation of transparency principles.
Seven international companies initially took part in the tender; five of them later withdrew.
The reasons for their decisions to leave the tender have not been made public.
