Mubarak And Sons To Be Tried For Killings, Corruption

Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak

Ousted Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak and his two sons will face trial before a criminal court over the deaths of anti-regime protesters and corruption.

A statement by the prosecutor general said Mubarak and his two sons Alaa and Gamal had been charged with the "premeditated murder of some participants in the peaceful protests of the January 25 revolution."

They have also been charged with profiteering and using their positions for illicit gains and squandering public funds while they were in power for 30 years.

Mubarak, who was ousted in February, is being detained at a hospital in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, while Alaa and Gamal are being held in Cairo's Tora prison.
