Heavy rains and flooding caused by a typhoon have killed nearly 90 people in North Korea and left more than 60,000 homeless.
The official Korean Central News Agency in Pyongyang has reported that Typhoon Khanun claimed "huge human and material losses" when it swept through the country late last week, destroying or flooding more than 17,000 buildings and submerging or washing away some 30,000 hectares of agricultural land.
The flooding, which comes shortly after a severe drought, is expected to worsen North Korea's chronic food shortage.
The United States said last month that two out of every three people in North Korea, or a total of 16 million people, suffer from malnutrition and lack of food security.
