Officials: Pakistani Troops Kill 11 Militants Near Afghan Border

Officials say Pakistani security forces have killed at least 11 militants during clashes in northwestern Pakistan, near the border with Afghanistan.

Local government official Mohammed Ilyas Khan was quoted as saying the fighting took place on June 17 in the Sarakai and Mukha areas northwest of Khar, the main town of Bajaur district.

Local security officials confirmed the clashes and casualties.

Pakistan has conducted several offensives against militants in the Bajaur area since August 2008.
