The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has banned Russia's only track-and-field athlete let into the Rio Olympics.
IAAF spokesman Yannis Nikolaou said on August 13 that the governing body revoked eligibility for long jumper Darya Klishina based on new information it received last week.
Klishina appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, with a decision expected on August 13-14, before the long-jump competition begins in Rio.
"I am a clean athlete, and I have proved that already," Klishina wrote on Facebook. "I will make every possible effort to defend my reputation as a clean athlete.”
Russian Olympics chief Aleksandr Zhukov called the IAAF's decision a "cynical mockery."
Reports said she may have been banned after being named in a report by Canadian lawyer Richard McLaren into a Russian doping scandal.
Klishina was previously the only Russian track-and-field athlete allowed to compete in Rio amid allegations of a widespread, state-sponsored doping program.
The 25-year-old was given the go-ahead because she has been based in the United States.
