OSCE Condemns Attacks in Kosovo Serb Village

The head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, Ambassador Jean-Claude Schlumberger, has strongly condemned two incidents affecting the Serb community in western Kosovo.

In a statement issued on July 10, the OSCE said a shooting targeted two vehicles owned by the same family and an attempt to damage a monument in the Serb village of Gorazdevac -- Gorazhdevc in Albanian -- was made on the night of July 8-9.

Schlumberger said these incidents “contribute to a sense of distress and insecurity.”

He urged the authorities to investigate the cases “swiftly” and to bring those responsible to justice.

“Such incidents adversely affect the peaceful co-existence of communities in Kosovo and must be treated as a matter of priority,” he added.
