Pakistan Court Dismisses Blasphemy Case Against Christian Girl

Security officials surround Rimsha Masih after her release from jail in September.

A Pakistani court has ended a blasphemy case, which was condemned around the world, against a Christian girl.

Rimsha Masih was arrested in August in Islamabad for allegedly burning Islamic scriptures.

State-run Pakistani television said on November 20 that Islamabad's High Court threw out the charges against her after her lawyers filed a petition against the case.

Rimsha, who is believed to be 14 years old, was freed earlier on bail by a lower court.

Police have accused a local imam of planting the evidence of the alleged blasphemy in her bag.
