Pakistan: Three Killed In U.S. Drone Strike

Security officials in Pakistan's tribal region said at least three people, including an Al-Qaeda commander, have been killed in a U.S. drone strike.

The attack took place in the Tabi area near Miranshah, the main town of the North Waziristan district bordering Afghanistan.

Officials said that four missiles struck a mud compound.

Reuters cites unnamed military intelligence officials as identifying one of the victims as Mohammad Ahmed Almansoor, a senior Al-Qaeda commander.

A similar attack on December 6 killed another senior Al-Qaeda member.

Hundreds of people have been killed in U.S. drone strikes in northwest Pakistan, where Washington is seeking to root out senior Al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters fueling an insurgency campaign in Afghanistan.
