Dozens of Pakistani citizens who live outside the country protested in front of the Election Commission in the capital, Islamabad, to demand the right to vote in elections. Protesters at the June 23 rally argued they are a major source of foreign exchange for Pakistan, as many send money home to support their families. By some estimates, around 8.8 million Pakistani citizens live and work abroad.
