Pakistani Paramilitary Force Raids NYT Reporter's Home

A New York Times correspondent says his home in Islamabad has been raided by a Pakistani paramilitary force.

Salman Masood said the paramilitary Rangers forces arrived at his home in the Pakistani capital early on January 12 allegedly looking for a "terror suspect."

The search came more than two years after Pakistan expelled the Times' bureau chief, Declan Walsh, during national elections.

In a statement, Pakistan's Interior Ministry said the raid was "in no way reasonable or acceptable," but did not elaborate why.

The Rangers force reports directly to the Interior Ministry, but because it is historically a border-security force, the powerful army's top command is also involved in its management.
